CityDog Cover shoot

Back in February I was fortunate to have the opportunity to photograph Drummer, the adorable winner of CityDog Magazine’s Spring Cover Model Search.  This kid was all energy and joy and such a fun pup to shoot.  Special thanks to Quynh with Pink & Posey for creating Drummer’s gorgeous floral collar!!  xx, Amy

Sunday we finally got some nice weather and I was delighted to meet up with Chelsea, Derek and their pup Zoe for a fun stroll around Seward Park in Seattle. I always seem to miss the cherry blossoms every year and was so happy that we had a few blooming around the lake. They always make everything feel so much more Spring-y. These two are getting married in just a little over a month at the lovely Mountain Springs Lodge in Leavenworth and I am already SO excited! Plus, today I learned that while their dog Zoe will be at the wedding as well, Chelsea will likely also be bringing her cat up to hang out while they’re getting ready; so obviously I’m now DOUBLY thrilled for the big day!! I hope this Spring weather sticks around and look forward to all the fun in Leavenworth!  xo, Amy

Well, as they say, better late than never! Carli and Tiffany were married in 2014 (2014!!!) and I embarrassingly just noticed that I never posted a blog for them, which I’m sure I was planning to do at the time before life got in the way. Two and half years late, but here we go! These lovely ladies got ready and had their first look at the Westin downtown. Carli had no idea that Tiffany had chosen to wear a dress for their ceremony and you can see the delight on Carli’s face; this is still one of my favorite first looks ever. The ceremony was held at a little park, just outside of the Fremont Public Library. Carli’s mother handmade dozens of adorable cushions to make the cement seating area more comfortable and guests quenched their thirst with mason jars of strawberry lemonade, each with its own custom tag representing parts of the couples’ life together. The ceremony was brief and tear-filled, after which everyone join together at El Camino for a super yummy Mexican dinner. After dinner, Carli helped Tiffany change into a stunning (and a bit more comforable) three-piece suit and they headed up to join their guests on the roof of their very own apartment building where everyone ate, drank, danced and partied until dark.  It was such a fun day, one that I still remember vividly nearly 3 years later. This beautiful couple has since moved to Bellingham, but I hope our paths cross again soon. xx, Amy

OK, so I did this thing. February through March, photographers around the world submit some of their best work to the Shoot and Share Contest and tens of thousands of people vote on these images to find out who the “best of the best” are. Now, keep in mind that this is a completely informal contest; it’s not judged by professionals, instead this contest is open to everyone and anyone who wants to vote. Mostly it’s photographers who vote, likely those who’ve also entered the contest, however friends and family join in every year. I never ask you guys because, well, I don’t know why.  Seems silly I guess. Maybe I’ll ask next year. Probably not. Anyhow, there are I think 16 categories (everything from brides and wedding details to families and pets), and every chance to vote includes a 4 image slideshow from the same category. You vote for your favorite of those 4, and move on to another set. This goes on and on and on until hundreds of thousands of images are narrowed down to the finalists and top 100 in each category.

Here are the stats:

225,207 total images submitted to the contest

74,000 photographers involved

32,622,327 total votes

So, that’s like a lot of people. And SO MANY photos. I voted a lot (it is a fantastic way to procrastinate) and rarely saw any of my own photos, which is actually really awesome because you get so much inspiration from all of the amazing pictures that are submitted. It is CRAZY how much photographic talent there is in the world. Anyhow, these are the images that made it into the top 30% or higher from the contest. If you see “finalist” in the corner of the image it means that the photo made it though all 12 rounds of voting. “Top 100” means it was one of the top 100 photos in the category it was entered in.  Thanks for checking in and I hope you enjoy these photos.  You may even see one or two from your own wedding or family session (after all, my kitty Cleo made it in!) xx, Amy

snowy engagement

It’s been far too long since I’ve posted an engagement session, but they’re always so fun! I will definitely be posting more of my favorite past sessions coming. But first!… Wednesday I had the pleasure of driving up to Snoqualmie Pass with Brooke, Jack, and their dog Baker for a little fun in the snow. I know I’ve mentioned this a million times before, but if you have a dog PLEASE include them in your engagement or wedding!! Everything is more fun with a dog. Even when that dog completely freaks because they’re doing avalanche control on the mountain and far too many big BOOMs are going off. Poor, sweet Baker! But he pulled through like a champ, as did Jack and Brooke and we captured some pretty fun images. 🙂 Only a few more months until these lovelies tie the knot at Woodland Park Zoo’s rose garden and I cannot wait! xx, Amy
