Let’s be honest, not everyone’s backyard is fit for a wedding, I know mine sure isn’t. And that’s not just because I don’t have a yard. However,  after meeting Ryan and Jimmy and upon hearing that they were hosting their wedding at Ryan’s childhood home in Wallingford I knew it was going to be absolutely perfect. These two absolutely exude 100%  joyful, carefree, happiness. I dare you not to look at their adoring faces and not smile back at your computer screen.  In fact, I guarantee you’ll be in a better mood once when you arrive at the end of this blog post today; they are THAT darling. Case in point, and to clarify the photo above of Ryan’s engagement ring, let me just quickly tell you how Jimmy proposed.  You see, Ryan is an avid coin collector, most often resulting in lots of pennies she’s found along the street.  So one day around Christmastime when they were home from college visiting Ryan’s parents, Jimmy tells her they need to run to the grocery store; so Ryan runs upstairs to quickly get dressed and Jimmy pops outside to leave a bit of change out along the sidewalk. As they head off to the store, Ryan happily collects a couple of pennies until she’s spotted the unlikely quarter. She leans down to pick up the 25-cent piece and when she excitedly turns to show it to Jimmy, he openhandedly shows her the change he’s found: a few coins and a diamond engagement ring.  Adorable. Actually, my favorite part of this story is that when Ryan wanted to immediately run back inside to let her family know the amazing news, Jimmy was like, “No, seriously, we really do have to go to the grocery store.”  And they did!  And she waited until they got back to tell them. I love that they had those few moments all to themselves, standing in the dairy aisle of QFC, with a secret only they knew.  Jimmy and Ryan, it was more than a pleasure getting to know you both and being able to share this amazing day with you and your wonderful families.  Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. xx, Amy

DeLille Cellars Wedding

I knew the moment I met Marie and Ryan that I was going to love them. They are stylish and fun and wonderful and their wedding was exactly that. Held outdoors at Woodinville’s gorgeous DeLille Cellars, it had all the charm of a garden party with the flare of black tie. Even though held mid-Summer, the weather’s never guaranteed (Washington Summer is a fickle lady) and we had a few light showers which opened up to rays of sun just as they began their vows.  What proceeded was a wonderful evening of dancing, ice-cream sandwiches and sparkler shenanigans. We had a blast sharing Ryan and Marie’s day with them and thank all of their friends and family for being such a delight!  You guys are the best!! xoxo, Amy

Hello and Happy Almost-Autumn!

It’s that time of year again…finally!  My favorite time of year, in fact. Time to bust out your favorite chunky cable-knit, pull on those riding boots you’ll don everyday until May, grab your favorite seasonal beverage (I’m currently in a heated internal debate between my obligatory 2-pump, nonfat, pumpkin spice latte and the very tasty Elysian Night Owl  but we can certainly debate that later) and cozy up with your favorite four-legged friend to snuggle the days away. It’s time for rainy days, wool slippers, and no more feelings of guilt for staying inside on a Saturday to binge watch Stranger Things for the third time.  But more importantly, and the reason that you’re hopefully still reading, is it’s the perfect time of year for photos!

What better reason to get you, your kids, your fiance, your dog, your wife, or your miniature pig into a delightful sweater-scarf combo and out of the house and into the leaves than a crazy-awesome-once-in-a-harvest-moon professional photography DEAL?  This is a great opportunity to get those Holiday photos out of the way, celebrate a new puppy, or just get some photos taken of you and your sweetie that were not shot on a smartphone.

Pike Place Engagement

Well, apparently it’s engagement week here on the blog.  🙂  Today we have Jon and Rachel’s darling session in Seattle. These two took me on a fantastic early morning walking tour which began with the spot where Jon proposed and concluded at Rachel’s office at the courthouse downtown. As you can clearly see, these two are completely lovely together and I cannot wait for their wedding at the Tyee Yacht Club next April.  Thanks for a super fun morning you two!!  xo, Amy
