Seattle Senior Portaits

Those of you who know me know that senior high school portraits are not typically my jam. Like, at all. However, when I was asked by one of my favorite wedding clients to photograph her totally rad daughter, I simply couldn’t say no.  And you know what?  It was awesome. Lilly is the coolest chick around and clearly, the camera loves her. If all senior sessions took place in the gritty alleys and corners of Capitol Hill with this fierce fashion vibe, I might just do them more often. Thanks to Lilly for being such an amazing (and fun!) model and to Candis for trusting me to capture her wonderful personality; you two having me second guessing my ban on senior portraits.  🙂 xx, Ames

Finally, shout out to my favorite cupcake place, Cupcake Royale, for their amazing (and photogenic) Red Velvet cupcakes. Also, to all of the fantastic artists who created the stunning mural art at our last stop- Josh Dall, Denial, Lina Cholewinski, Connie Fu, Bisco and Leoshallat.

Seattle Senior Portraits

These two sweethearts were married in January in Woodinville at Redhook Brewery.  Now, what’s better than a wedding with a dog?  How about a wedding with two dogs?! While Kristi and Corey weren’t able to have their little Winnie and big, goofy Chester at the actual ceremony, we sure made up for it with plenty of puppy snuggles pre-wedding. Their ceremony was short and sweet, followed by a completely fantastic party with burgers, ice-cream cake and lots of dancing.  Big thanks for sharing your most joyful f days with us!!! xx, Amy

OK, so it’s no secret that 2016 hasn’t been the best year.  It’s definitely near the bottom of my list of all time favorite years in fact. Except maybe 7th grade, that’s definitely right down there.  However, while yes, this year has generally been a tougher one for many of us, I’m here to remind you that there were also lots and lots of shining moments of laughter, joy and love. So. Much. Love.

This year I was blessed to photograph 29 real weddings, one fantastic wedding show, 15 events, the beauty of 2 different countries with 6 great friends, 9 head shots, 2 issues of CityDog Magazine and 30 different happy families. I was also honored to capture two families becoming “official” on National Adoption Day. I traveled around Ireland and Scotland shooting and eating and drinking and laughing with the coolest and most creative people I know. I photographed lots and lots of cats and dogs and hope to do even more of that in the coming year.

I love creating this slideshow at the end of the year because it is a great reminder to me (and hopefully a lot of you) that happiness is indeed all around us. These photos solidify my belief that what I do matters and that I’m extremely fortunate to do what I love for a living. I find it very hard not to smile back when when you see another smiling face, so I truly hope this slideshow brings lots of grins and a bit of happiness to your day.  There are far too many people to thank for all I am appreciative this year so I’ll just end by saying this…

Thank you to all of my clients and friends and loved ones, from the bottom of my heart, you are what makes my life so incredibly blessed and special. I could not do any of this without your support and your love. I am so grateful for the new friends I’ve made and for all the old friends who stick by me every year. 2016 was a peculiar year and as a society we lost some really amazing people, but so many new unions were also formed. Sons and daughters were born, animals in need found new homes, babies were adopted into loving families and so many wonderful humans found their better halves.  The future is uncertain, but the fact remains: love is indeed all around. xx, Ames

Hidden Meadows Wedding

Rachelle and Tyson’s wedding may be my most memorable of the year.  Not only because these two are some of the coolest people I was honored to photograph this year, but also because of the rain. So much rain!  People were soaked! And it was still amazing! That’s how completely awesome these two and their friends and families are. Mid-ceremony the skies opened up and everyone collectively just kinda decided, ‘hey, we’re in it for the long haul now, let’s hear some vows!’ and jackets became umbrellas and that was that. It was absolutely fantastic, except for the fact that I was totally drenched. We made it though the ceremony, everyone hustled over to the bar, Rachelle got out the hair dryer and all was right with the world.  That is how every wedding should be. I mean, maybe not the rain part, but the chill whatever-happens-happens-we’re-still-gonna-be-married attitude.  I adore these two and their families for rolling with the punches and turning what could have been the most bitter icky lemons into the most delightfully sweet lemonade. Tyson and Rachelle, I wish you so much love and happiness and know that whatever comes your way, it will be seen with the same optimism and fun spirit as this amazing day was.  Love you both!!!  xx, Amy

Januik Winery Wedding

Sara and Dave had the most marvelous wedding at Januik Winery this Summer. Honestly, these two are so sweet together;  it’s tough to imagine anything but complete loveliness from this pair. It’s also hard to not be totally amazed by the 1000 (that’s right, one thousand) origami cranes that Sara folded herself for the big day. Fantastic, right?! Toss in the most charming family and guests, tasty food and pies and you’ve got yourself an epic day to remember. 🙂 I’m also completely in love with Sara’s stunning uniquely toned diamond engagement ring. GORGEOUS! Sending lots of love to Sara and Dave and best wishes for a long happy life together. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful day with us.  xx, Amy
